Behind the Scenes - BIAB Certified

Last month, we welcomed a certified BIAB trainer into Orchid Spa for a full day of hands-on training with our entire team. Every technician — not just a few — sat down together to learn proper technique, together, working through application, cuticle prep, and finishing side by side. It wasn't a quick demo; it was real practice, real feedback, and real repetition until the method felt second nature to every single set of hands in the room.
We've offered gel manicures for years, but BIAB is a different animal — a thicker, brush-on builder gel that behaves more like a structural product than a polish. Getting it right takes real repetition: the right bead of product, the right brush angle, the right cure time. So rather than send one or two technicians off to train and hope the technique trickled down, we brought the training to everyone at once. If you sit down in any chair at Orchid Spa, you're getting a technician who learned this system hands-on, in this room, on the same day as everyone else.

By the end of the day, our team was mastering the BIAB application process — from the first thin layer to the final glass-like finish. Now all that's left is a little more repetition, and that's where you come in. Every appointment you book helps our technicians sharpen what they learned, and you get a stronger, more natural-looking manicure out of it too. To celebrate, we're offering an introductory 15% off all of September on every BIAB manicure or full set.
"Real practice, real feedback — until it's second nature."
More From Training Day
Training a full team at once means a lot of huddling around one station at a time — everyone watching the same hand, the same brush stroke, the same finish, so nothing gets lost between technicians.
Why We Chose BIAB
Before bringing any new service into the spa, we look at what's actually behind it — not just the marketing. BIAB was developed by The GelBottle Inc, the original inventor of the "Builder in a Bottle" category, which is part of why nail professionals lean on it so heavily: it wasn't designed as a trend product, it was designed to solve real problems with weak, damaged, or over-processed nails.

No chipping or lifting — the formula holds up through everyday wear.
A built-in 2-in-1 primer and base, so there's less product juggling at the table.
Acts as a strengthening barrier for the natural nail underneath.
Self-leveling, and can be infilled or soaked off when it's time for a refresh.
Ideal for strong overlays as well as short to medium extensions.
The Product Behind the Process
Part of what makes BIAB day-to-day-reliable is the product itself. It's applied straight from the bottle with a brush — no mixing, no separate primer step — which is exactly why our technicians could get so much hands-on repetition in a single training day. Fewer steps means fewer places for technique to drift between technicians, which is the whole point of training everyone together in the first place.

What BIAB Is Used For
Strengthening weak, peeling, or bitten nails
Creating short extensions
Repairing minor cracks or damage
Who BIAB Suits
Good for:
Thin, bendy, peeling, or damaged nails
Nail-biters
Anyone wanting natural-looking strength and durability
The Result
All the training and product details are only worth talking about because of what they add up to at the end of the appointment: a glossy, natural-looking set that actually holds up. BIAB reads less like "done nails" and more like your own nails, just stronger — which is exactly the look most of our clients are asking for right now.

Typical wear is 2–4 weeks before you'll want to come back in for an infill or a fresh set, and because it's built directly on your natural nail, growth looks tidier in the meantime too. If your nails have been thin, peeling, or breaking lately, this is usually the point where clients tell us they wish they'd tried it sooner.
